The Times of Madagascar, hosted at www.madatimes.com has formed a reputation in less than a year.
Its anniversary will take place on April 9 and yet it has already drawn readers’ attention by its ambitious team’s work in search of information which covers all existing fields in the country. Last Thursday, the United Nations proceeded to the year 2009 media awards. Eighteen reporters among the accredited thousand ones were rewarded. The prizes were divided into five categories: prize for diligence, special prize for objectivity efforts, revelation prize, encouragement prize and gratitude prize. Our colleague Nadia Raonimanalina got the fourth category prize for the third time in the name of The Times of Madagascar. According to organizers, “this category applies to prize-winners who have won the award two consecutive times in the category of the UN's reporter of the year. As for our webjournal, the reward comes back to leaders who “do not need to be persuaded to encourage their team to participate more in different opportunities which may occur”. In addition, “they advise and exercise their experience with the editorial staff members”.
How to participate? “There will be Media Awards every year for reporters who will play broadcasters, gatherers, and advocacy’s role and those who will contribute to peacemaking,” reveals the United Nation System coordinator, Peter Metcalf. There are no special required conditions for the participation in this competition. What is necessary is “to promote the Eight Millennium Development Goals through different articles”.
